A great weekend…

I had a great time on 7th October …

I was part of a wonderful hands on lab conducted by Microsoft.. I was happy to help all participants… The lab was about Virtual Server 2005 R2, my favourite subject these days.. It was great learning for me as much as the knowledge sharing I did …

The afternoon was even better as I help Janaagraha migrate its website.. All went off well…

Spent the evening with my family… Had a wonderful time…

A happy weekend for me as I also interacted and spoke with my best friends this weekend…

A weekend to remember… Among all this joy, one sad thing happened.. But that’s life… And it will go on…. Life is a great leveler … And I am learning about it…

I thank my friends - Ashwin, SMF, Mins, Iha , Neha , Basava , Kaliyan and Sunny for being so supportive when I needed them most…

Smiles,
Rahul

ME........

Transitioning my career from the Hospitality Industry to the Information Technology Industry in the year 2000, connecting to people has always been in me. As a Systems Administrator I do just that day in and day out … I manage the IT infrastructure at SunGard Solutions, Bangalore. I have done 6 Microsoft Certifications. I am a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator 2003 early achiever and a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer 2000. I devote my free time to the technology communities. Bangalore IT Pro User Group started in 2005 and I lead the group. I believe knowledge grows by sharing and I love to share my knowledge by giving IT infrastructure solutions to all. I also provide career tips and mentor and support young brains who want to make a mark in the IT Industry. My recent achievements include supporting Janaagraha’s (www.Janaagraha.org , an NGO) IT infrastructure and web migrations for which have been appreciated by them. I was recognised as Microsoft India DevStar in September 2006 and as Microsoft Most Valuable Professional – Windows Networking in October 2006 by Microsoft. Be it networking computers or people, I love it all.

My association with technology communities saw a mention in The SmartTechie Magazine in October 2006. I invite one and all to participate in technology communities. There is a myth that what is free is not good and what is good does not come free. I can show you how technology communities prove this perception to be wrong. And it is wrong to think that Technology communities are only for Technology Geeks.

Feel free to email me at
tram100@gmail.com . I blog at http://rahulnathan.blogspot.com occasionally but I prefer to reach out to the technology communities directly at http://groups.msn.com/BangaloreITPro and Microsoft newsgroups.

hahahahaha........

hahahahahaha......

I have been a bit negative in my thoughts off late ....

A friend wrote some interesting words for me to put on my profile, and here they are :

"I have received accolades from the Hell and asked by the Aasuras and Rakshashas to join them as they also want to be better Tech. Hell is in real need for technology advancement and I am already signed by them as IT Mentor with immediate effect. Awaiting a Visa to be approved after which i will have a grand welcome by them at their Gateway. This may be in next few years, months, days, or may be the next minute. I have always been smiling and termed as Rahul "Smiley" Nathan... It gives me immense pleasure to make everybody smile and hope to continue that in Hell too. "

Hahahahahaha.......... I am very happy to have wonderful friends who drive my life forward...

A big Thank you to all my friends for encouraging me and supporting me always :)

Smiles,
Rahul

3rd Bangalore IT Pro UG meet

Smile :)

I am very happy to let you all know that Kaliyan organized the 3rd Bangalore IT Pro UG meet very well. It was held on 6th Aug 2005. I am told that people liked the invitation card I made for the event even tough I had some initial problems to display it when I tired to post it on the site.

It was a fine evening. We started a little late but we had a good show.

My colleague from work, Guru made a wonderful presentation about Virtual Servers. I think every one there enjoyed it as it was simple down to earth real stuff. I enjoyed it. Guru, if you are seeing this, a big thank you to you for accepting my invitation even though you are having a busy schedule.

Shariq (who became my friend after the event) put together a wonderful presentation about Windows 2003. The tips and tricks were great as we tend to forget them even though we often know them.

I guess my laptop created a small disturbance there as it restarted in between the presentation but I guess Guru did not have too much of a problem. So I am happy.

Met lots of old and new faces there. Was happy to see Upendra (my office colleague – software testing expert) come over to encourage us. I hope he was not disappointed.

I am happy that I got the opportunity to speak about my proposed initiatives and put them forward to the members. I am glad that members loved the “helping careers” concept and are willing to support it.

Now I and Kaliyan have to prepare for the next Bangalore IT Pro meet as we plan to take up the sessions there. That should be fun!

I have photos of the event which I will put up soon.

Thanks for reading and bearing with me. Hehe…
